Drone Magnetometry Surveys for Archaeology & UXO Detection

Magnetometry is a powerful geophysical method used to detect and map variations in the Earth's magnetic field caused by buried ferrous materials. At ERCS International, we deploy advanced drone mounted magnetometers (both flux gate and full atomic) to conduct fast, safe, and precise surveys.

What is Magnetometry?

Magnetometry measures subtle changes in the Earth’s magnetic field to locate buried objects and geological structures. Using sensors that detect magnetic anomalies, this technique reveals subsurface features without excavation, making it a non-invasive and efficient survey method. 

Magnetometry vs. Other Survey Technologies

Unlike visual drone surveys or LiDAR, magnetometry focuses on detecting magnetic signatures rather than visual features only. It complements aerial surveys by providing critical underground data, enabling a comprehensive understanding of the site both above and below ground. When coupled with photogrammetry and LiDAR and identified targets can be cross-correlated between data sets.
